As I was wrapping up this blog post I get a notification from “Today with The Lindsey”
( it’s Heather and Cornelius Lindsey app.. I’m obsessed with their teaching) and the notification said ” As believers we must learn to trust the leading of the Holy Spirit. Our ways are not his ways and our thoughts are not his thoughts. God’s instructions may not make sense to us, but His commands are given with a purpose”. I nearly jumped out of my skin with excitement because that is what this post is about. Lets dig in a little more.
I Hate it….
I Hate it….
I Hate it….
Not having control over what is next or what is to come can be scary. Not knowing what the future holds can make you feel shaky and like your walking on eggshells. One thing about this Christian walk is its all about faith and stepping out on the unknown. The enemy will try to allow fear and doubts to pop its ugly heads up, but we must cast down the enemy with the word of God.
#FAITH IS NOT KNOWING WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS BUT KNOWING WHO HOLDS YOUR FUTURE!!!
Jeremiah 29:11; For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
I was 21 and preparing to graduate from college and head out into the real world. I was so eager to start my journey and start my dream job. My guidance counselor and professors made it seem like it was going to be so easy to find a job let alone get my foot in the door. Man, were they wrong. These days it’s all about who you know. Thank God I already had a job that I had been working at for 9 or 10 years at the time. I had that comfort knowing that if I did not get a job right out of college I still had some income coming in from my current job.
At the same time I was getting tired of my current job and it was becoming boring and old to me. I was losing my passion and zeal. I was doing the same thing over and over again, every day was the same thing NO EXCITEMENT!!! On top of that my boss was starting to give me problems and blaming me for things that I have no control of or had nothing to do with and just treating me bad. I was frustrated and just wanted to do something that was exciting and new. I knew I couldn’t stay there forever.
I would send out resumes and applications but unfortunately every application or resume that I sent out I never heard back from, and if I heard back from them it was the ” we have received your application and resume and will be reviewing it” but yet again never heard from them regarding if I got the job or not. I think it’s safe to say that I didn’t get the job.
Matthew 6:31-33; Therefore do not be anxious. saying “what shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or What shall we wear? For the gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God an his righteousness , and all these things will be added to you.
It so frustrating when you’re doing the right thing, have the right credentials but your getting a fight to move forward. I remember being discouraged and even entertaining the idea of collecting unemployment ( that’s how miserable & desperate I was to leaving my current job). Long story short I stayed where I was until God told me otherwise. The Lord had opened a door for me 2 years later where I am working in my field but it is also stepping stone into what God had already told me He wanted me to do as far as purpose and ministry is concerned. So it’s like a two for one deal #score!!!!
Do not be discouraged when things do not go your way. God wants us to be still and listen for his voice. God has your life planned out even before you were conceived. It is easy to get discouraged and take the easy route, but the easy route is not always the best and smartest route. We have to go through a process to get to where God wants us. Yes, we may want to start that business but God is saying “no I want to use you in this area where you will meet someone and they will open up doors to your business”, but because we are stuck on what “WE” want and what “WE” need to happen we end up excluding God from the equation. You never want to keep God out of your plans. I have said this many times, we can see down the street but God can see around the corner. Trust Him he knows what you can and cannot handle.
God knows our desires and what we want to do and what we are passionate about. He gave us those desires and passions. My question to you guys is Can God trust you with what he has given you? God may not allow things to happen when you want them to because you need to show yourself faithful with the little you do have. You want to be used in the ministry whether it be the praise and worship, dance team, community outreach, missionary group, but can you be faithful with coming to church faithfully and not just coming to church so people know your there, but coming to LEARN, GROW, and CHANGE!!!.
There needs to be spiritual growth and maturity. Not saying you have to be perfect by any means because NO ONE IS PERFECT (Romans 3;10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one)!!! but there needs to be some evidence of change and growth. There are other areas we must show ourselves faithful and loyal for example in our tithes, prayer, walking in love, forgiveness, pureness, holiness, righteousness and the list goes on.
Do not be in a rush to position your own self. You may envision yourself doing great things, but God may say No because he has better for you. This goes for all areas in your life not just church. You may want a promotion at work, you have to show yourself faithful and loyal to coming to work on time everyday, doing your job, following instructions and being obedient to your boss ( I know that can be tough but we have to be able to be told what to do and submit).
God knows our end from the beginning ( Jeremiah 1:5). We need to trust God with our very own life. God will never steer you in the wrong direction. There will be times where you may be unsure and not know what to do, where to go, who to talk to, but one thing for sure is God is always there and is always speaking. We have to sit still and be quiet, just listen to that small voice. This is why it’s important that we stay in Gods presence. This way we will be able to knows Gods voice from our own. ( John 10:27-28; My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.)
So Hold on my Sisters ( and brothers if there are any males reading this ) God is holding your hand through this time of unsurety! Trust, Rely and Depend on God. He will guide you and bring you to your Destined place of Purpose! Don’t be overwhelmed or Frustrated it is going to be ok and you are going where God wants you!
I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!
