Tug Of War

Quotefancy-1939581-3840x2160

Who has ever played Tug of War when they were growing up? For those of you who are not familiar with Tug of War it is a sport that directly puts two teams against each other in a test of strength: teams pull on opposite ends of a rope, with the goal being to bring the rope a certain distance in one direction against the force of the opposing team’s pull.

There are moments in life where we can get swept away with the movements around us. It could be you know you need to cut certain people out of your life but your afraid of what will happen once you’ve let them go, or you are being delivered from alcohol, drugs, porn, masturbation ect, but the sin keeps call you and your straddling the fence on should you satisfy your flesh or deny it. You know God is a forgiving God so you try to use that as an excuse to sin and cover up the guilt and shame you feel.

If you have or are going through this you are not alone. I battle with things constantly. I tend to go back and forth whether it be in my mind/thoughts and emotions. I know what God expects from me and what he would like for me to refrain from, However it is easier said then done sometimes. We know we should live for Christ at all times and be obedient but on the other hand we have times where doing it our way seems to be easier and self gratifying. In reality thats a lie. The more we go against the Word of God the further we push ourselves away from Him.

The devils goal is for us to stray away from God, to get us to the point where we become self-righteous, self-centered, keyword: SELF! Satan wants us to think that we don’t need God we can do it all by ourselves which by the way is a lie straight from hell. This is why the enemy attacks our mind and heart, those two combined is a powerful thing. The devil will have you think “if I do it this once I won’t do it again” or  ” God doesn’t expect me to be perfect so if I repent afterwards it will all well with my soul”. The bible says in

James 4:17; Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to Him it is SIN!

There is a TEST!!!

In the beginning when I was explaining how the game of Tug Of War one thing stood out to me, when I wrote “puts two teams against each other in a test of strength” that spoke to me. I envisions an angel on one shoulder  and a devil on the other shoulder. On one side you have the angel speak life and keeping you in the will/ alignment of God, and on the other you have the devil speaking deceit, lies, death, confusion, just a lot of mess in your ear. Of course what the devil is saying is speaking to your soul because he is saying what you want to hear and you try to tune out the right and holy things out because that’s causing you to kill your flesh.

What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses? As believers we know that God is not a liar and everything he speaks ALWAYS comes to pass right? So when we are in the game of Tug Of War we are in a test to see how faithful and honorable we are to God. In the middle of  the chaos are we giving room for the enemy to come in and bring suggestions and confusion? Or are we speaking life and the word of God  into the situation? When we are going through are we to focused on what we see in the natural that we forget that our God can make what looks impossible possible? While we are going through are we murmuring and complaining or are we rebuking every thought that is not of God?

The way that we deal with situations shows and proves our faithfulness, loyalty, love, honor and trust that we have in God. Now when we sit and let Satan minister to us instead of God, that is how we walk ourselves right out of the will of God and into disaster. Th devil may be tugging at you trying to deceive you with thoughts like ” You serve God and he says he will never leave you nor forsake you but where is he? Why are you in this predicament? Believe it or not the devil knows scripture as well  but he will twist it, this is why it is important to be able to discern and know Gods’ voice versus the devils. Don’t be afraid to speak back to that lying wonder. Let him know ” Yes, My God will NEVER leave me nor FORSAKE me and no matter what I am faced with I know HE will bring me through. I am more than a conqueror, I am His Child and he Loves me! I rebuke you in the name of JESUS and I cast down every spirit of confusion, chaos, deceit, doubt, fear and lie that you try to send my way. You are a liar and there is no truth in you” You have to let that foul devil know you are not the one.

How to Get Through:

I want to help you guys out with some things that I have done that have helped me overcome certain areas in my life that I needed deliverance from. They say if you do something consistently for 21 days it becomes a habit. So i want to challenge you all to try these tips below for 21 days and see your life transform.

  1. Seek God Daily- Find scripture on whatever it is you are struggling with and meditate on it, let it get DEEEEEP DOWN in your spirit.
  2. Pray- Prayer changes everything. Prayer is one powerful weapon to cast down and destroy all works of the enemy.
  3. Stay away from triggers- If you want to be delivered from:
  • Drinking- stay away from bars, clubs, liquor stores, atmospheres that would make you weak and cave in. If need be eliminate people out of your life who won’t help you overcome or support/ encourage you stay on the straight and narrow path.
  • Porn– Stay off the websites. If you have to stay off the stores, computers, phone any technology that would allow you to view that material. Even fast from technology and when you get the urge to satisfy the flesh Pray.
  • Masturbation– This goes hand in hand with Porn. Stay away from TV Shows, magazines, conversation, music that could trigger feelings.  When you get the urge deny the flesh get on your face and pray cry out to God.
  • Drugs– delete that dealers number out your phone, ignore every call that comes to your phone that you know is going to cause nothing but issues.
  • Gossip- When people come to you with he say/she say or “did you hear” let them know you do not want to hear anything that is not of God. Dismiss it and keep it pushing. Do not get swept in. If you can’t leave and you’re stuck lets say your in a car and gossip is being told DO NOT ENGAGED! If anything just say we should pray for them.  Use your mouth for good not evil.
  • Unforgivness,Pride,Strife..……and the list goes on.

4)  Have someone who can hold you Accountable– When you are having a weak moment it’s good to have someone who will listen and not judge but at the same time let you know what thus saith the Lord and do it with LOVE.

5) Stay in the Church. Keep getting fed, stay encouraged,God has given us Shepard to watch over our souls if you need counseling go and speak to your leaders. They will help you. I know some people prefer therapists and counselors whatever your comfortable with just seek help.

Matthew 26:41 ; Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation; the Spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

I love you all, stay encouraged and be blessed ❤

“One of my biggest fears as a believer is being  disobedient and out of the will of God that I miss my calling and the souls that God called me  to win for HIS  Kingdom their blood is now on my hands.”

I heard a testimony of two young ladies one was a Christian (we will name her “Josie) and the other friend was a Christian as well but I don’t think her walk with God was as strong as Josie’s, anyway we will name her ( Diane). They were best of friends. The Lord would unction Josie to invite her friend Diane to church, Josie’s father was a Pastor and a Mighty man of God. Josie wanted to invite her friend but for some reason never did. Josie would ignore the unction of the Holy Spirit. This happened on multiple occasions but she never obeyed what she was being told to do. Josie had many, many opportunities to invite her friend to church since they were always together. Long story short behind closed does Diane was battling within herself.  Diane was very depressed and suicidal , she never showed this side to anyone so Josie assumed she had her life together and was happy with everything.

One day Josie realized that she had not seen her friend  Diane in a while. Josie asked someone if they had seen Diane,  and that was when Josie was hit with news that changed her life forever! Josie’s best friend had took her fathers gun and shot herself in the head. Josie said that her best friends blood was now on her hands because of her disobedience to invite her to church. If she would have listened to the Holy Spirit her friend could have possibly still be here.

Ever since I heard that testimony I made a vow to myself that I will do what God tells me to do even if I do not understand. I rather be obedient then be disobedient and set myself up for disaster and embarrassment.

When we are being led by the Holy Spirit to do something especially if it is uncomfortable or not “normal” JUST DO IT. We do not need to know why!  We are responsible for telling others about the gospel. Psalm 96:3; Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people. If they do not want to listen or if they listen but still continue in their old ways then their blood is not on your hands, because you have told them and warned them about what the gospel says.

Many of us are afraid to correct one another on things that are not of God.  If you see your brother or sister doing or acting a way that is not of Christ it is important that we hold them accountable, remind them what God commands of them and make sure you do it with Love and not as if your belittling them. The way that you go about handling a someone is important, if you handle someone in a way that condemns and not convicts that can cause them to pull away from God. Conviction is different from condemnation because Conviction leads to life for the believer. We must never ignore the Holy Spirits loving discipline. Conviction may hurt in the moment, but unlike condemnation, it will lead to more joy in the end.

  •  Condemnation Leads to Death. Conviction Leads to Life
  • Condemnation Is for the Unbeliever. Conviction Is for the Believer
  • Humans Bring Condemnation. The Holy Spirit Brings Conviction

Romans 8:1;There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

I know that there are young people who feel like they are too young to be used. Some think that they have to be a certain age, or have to have gone through some tough times to be used. You are not to young and God will use you regardless of what you have or have not been through. If you look in the book of Jeremiah he was used as a Teenager. Maybe the “tween” ages I am not exactly sure what age he was. In the book of Jeremiah Chapter 1 verses 4- 10 it speaks on how God tells Jeremiah that he knew him before he was formed in his mother’s womb, before he was born and chose him to do a special work. How awesome is that? Your not even formed yet let alone even thought of and God already had a purpose and calling for your life. .God called Jeremiah to be a prophet to the nations. Jeremiah’s response to God is “ I don’t know how to speak. I am only a Boy”. Jeremiah has the response I am sure we all would have if put in his shoes. He is thinking he is to young to be used by God and to have such a powerful ministry  and have the weight of a nation on your shoulder that’s A LOT  of pressure for someone his age.

God may have given Jeremiah such a great calling but one thing about God is he wont leave you out to dry. He told Jeremiah in verses 9 and 10 ” Then the Lord reached out with his hand and touched my mouth. He said to me, “Jeremiah, I am putting my words in your mouth. Today I have put you in charge of nations and kingdoms. You will pull up and tare down. You will destroy and overthrow. You will build up and plant. God gave Jeremiah an importation from him so he would speak what the Lord has called him to speak. He also gave him instruction and insight as to what he has called him to do while doing the will of Christ.

When I study the bible I always think and ask myself “I wonder what the world would be like is such and such did not adhere to the calling on their life?” One thing is for certain One’s disobedience can effect many. Answer the call. Do not fear cripple you from God assignment on your life. You do not have to have it all together for you to be used mightily. God has specific people for us to come in contact with and we are going to be used in some way to get them to where they need to be for their purpose. However that is only if you are obedient and do what you are being told to do. The theme that I am getting at right now is Obedience. Obedience plays a major role and is a MAJOR key in walking in your assignment. If your not walking in Obedience then what are you doing?

The time is NOW!!! Activate the call on your life. Take a leap of faith and do what the Lord has been calling you to do. It may not make sense, you may not know how it will all come together.. Do not look around for people’s approval. Just have faith and press through. There are no small parts in being a servant of God ( 1 Corinthians 12:12). God will never give you an assignment that he felt you wouldn’t be able to fulfill. SO LETS GET BUSY FOR THE KINGDOM… ACTIVATION ON!!!!

I hope this is encouraging to you all.

I. Love. You. All. ❤

Prepare On Purpose… FOR PURPOSE!!!

Image may contain: nature and outdoor

Mark 13:33

“Take heed, keep on the alert; for you do not know when the appointed time will come.”

Lord, I thank you for this opportune time that we have to come together and hear from you. Lord I ask that whoever reads this post on ” Prepare on Purpose”, that you will continue to bless and speak to them even after they have read this. Lord, if there is anyone who is currently wanting to be used for your Kingdom but has lost their fire, has let doubt, defeat, the feeling of not being good enough, fear, timid, confusion to creep in or is not sure what exactly they should be doing as far as serving goes. I ask you to direct and order their footsteps, prick their hearts and show them what you have called them to do. Soften hard hearts Lord, and remove all hindrances that are in our life. Let our ears and hearts be open to hear from you on today. I give you the Glory, the Honor and the Praise in Jesus name I pray

Amen!

We must prepare on Purpose  for our Purpose. You never know when your time is going to come. When preparing for your purpose you must always keep in mind the tests that come your way. The tests are not here to distract you or throw you off course. The tests come to show YOU…. YOU. Show you areas that you need more grooming and maturing. When God decides its time for you to walk fully in your purpose you want to be as ready as possible for whatever may come your way. On my journey to finding and fulfilling my purpose I learned  4 Major keys on how to walk into my purpose and own it. I would like to share with you some reminders that I have for myself while I am continuing on my journey of Purpose:

One purpose in life is to get close to God, One purpose in life is to glorify God, One purpose in life is to grow in character, One purpose in life is to tell others about Jesus’ love for them, One purpose in life is to develop your gifts, Do not minimize your role, Do not downplay the value of what you do, What counts is that you are faithful.

                                                 Always Be Ready!

1 Peter 3:15 ; But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and be ready always to give an answer to every man who asketh you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.

One thing that I have learned over these past few years in my walk with the Lord is to ALWAYS… ALWAYS BE READY! When you have a heart after God and you want to serve, honor, bless others and  just be a vessel that God uses to changes lives, you must always be ready. You never know when God is going to bring someone in your path that has been appointed to YOU to minister to, pray for, encourage, tell them about God, or even mentor, you never know who God will bring in your path.

Of course you will have days where your on fire for God and ready for God to move and just beaming in his presence. Then you have days where your mind is cluttered with the distractions of life and your focus is off, to the point where the last thing your focused on are kingdom things.

I can vouch for this!!! There would be weeks where I’m just soaking in the presence of God and just happy and content. Then I’ll have a moment where a situation arises and takes all my attention, and I lose focus on my purpose and start focusing on my problems. I would always blame the devil,  and say things like ” this ain’t nothing but the enemy, I was doing good, focused, happy, loving on God and now this or that wants to happen.“. I soon came to realize that sometimes you need a good old pop quiz. We tell God I want you, I want to work  in the ministry, I want to be used by you and when a wrench is thrown into your life its almost like God is saying let me see what my child is going to do if I let this or that happen. Do they really mean what they say?

Even our Character needs to be checked at times because when God uses you in a mighty way and uses you as a mouth piece for Him, He needs to make sure that when mayhem breaks, or things  that should break you and /or would cause people to lose their identity, it wont have that effect on you. Are you going to break character or continue to have that soft, quiet, faithful, humble spirit, and go with the flow? Even though you’re stressed, upset, anxious?!?  When walking in your kingdom purpose you will face many hiccups and rough patches, but you have to remember that the picture is ALWAYS bigger than you.

(Matthew 15:8 ; This people draws near to me with their mouth, and honors me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.)

“There is always a ram in the bush so be ready!!”

One bonus key  that I have learned is when seeking God about what it is that HE has put you on this earth to do, it’s important to keep your spirit fed with the Word of God and PRAYER!. You need to be filled with more Word & Prayer than anything else. They go hand in hand and are powerful tools. Take time out of your day, find a quiet place and spend time with God. If the only time you can spare is time at work find a room (car, bathroom, closet, lunchroom ect) and just spend a few minuets. The more word the more revelation. God wants to download so much inside of us.

Do Not Compare!

Galatians 6:4-6 ; Don’t compare yourself with others. Just look at your own work to see if you have done anything to be proud of. You must each accept the responsibilities that are yours , Whoever is being taught God’s word should share the good things they have with the one who is teaching them.

I know I have had my struggles in the area of comparing. I have found myself sizing up to people who have impacted lives and/ or are movers and shakers for the Kingdom. I get that ” I wish I had that calling or anointing” feeling. Feelings like that are common but we need to be careful.  I say that because you can see something and want it but its the motives behind it or the heart behind it that counts.  If your not careful the spirit of covetousness can slither its way into your heart and taint your calling.

Exodus 20:17; You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife or his male servant or his female servant or his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

Whatever your passion is I am sure that there are people  who you admire/ admonish and would like to be in their position. It’s ok to admire someone but when you start feeling jealous/ covetous, or even start to idolize them and try to live like them, that’s when you need to step back, re-evaluate your motives and heart, talk to God, repent, and then regroup.  One thing that we ( including myself) have to stop doing is comparing where we are currently to where someone else is. You do not know what they had to go through to get there, you don’t even know if they are walking in a true calling or walking in disobedience and self. In other words just ” STAY IN YOUR LANE and BE CONTENT”.

God knew your purpose before you were even thought of. Trust the process and enjoy the journey to your destiny. Everyone’s process is different. If its for you God will position you for it. It will all make sense in the end.

Be Content!

Philippians 4:11 “Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.

Yeah so what if  they have more followers than you and more comments under their posts. If God wanted you to be Instagram famous, Facebook famous, snap chat famous then you would be. I’m embarrassed to say this but tell the truth and shame the devil. I have even entertained the idea of buying followers ( I can laugh and see how silly that is)  but God dealt with my heart and had me checking my motives. God even had to check me and asked me are you doing this for fame & money? or for souls and my Kingdom? I will never forget how I felt when I heard that. I felt like I let God down. Purpose to me means sacrifice, but not the sacrifice as in my life is over but more of a joyful sacrifice knowing that because of my sacrificed more people can be effected for the kingdom.

Be content with where you are right now. God may have you hidden because the world is not ready for what he is about to do, or maybe your not ready, some people need to be dismissed from your company or even because its not the right time. Be Patient and just work on your growth and relationship with Christ. When the time comes God is going to BLOW YOUR SOCKS OFF!!!!

                                                   STAY FOCUSED ON YOUR PURPOSE.

It is important that we do not go ahead of God. Yes, its exciting when you see your purpose coming together and you see the impact that you are having on others, but stay in your lane and do not jump the gun. I literally have this conversation with myself daily because I get excited easily, and there is so much that I want to do and so much that i envision, but I always have to take a step back and ask God if this is something that HE wants me to do. If you do not take anything from this today take this…. Before doing anything that you are not sure of concerning your purpose RUN IT BY GOD! GET THAT CONFIRMATION AND APPROVAL  before doing anything that could be out of the will of God.

I pray you got something out of this!!!!!

Are you Genuine or Insincere about Worship?

Image result for true worship

This topic just started to weigh heavy in my spirit. Every morning I listen to different christian podcasts to get myself in the right spirit, mind frame and to start my day off right. One of the podcasts’ that I was listening to was speaking on the topic of worship. The man of God asked a question, and the question was ” When you sing unto God what is your heart’s posture? Are you genuinely singing to God, and mean what we say? OR  are you just singing because you know the words? that is your  favorite song?  you like the beat?”. That was a question that I had to ask myself because I’m a Youth Praise and Worship Leader, so I had to evaluate my worship.

I’ve come to church not in the greatest of moods because I had a rough day and when I come to church I find out that I have to sing. I honestly don’t feel like singing, but I know that as a Praise and Worship leader it is my duty along with the body of Christ to set the atmosphere for  God to come in and  also help set the atmosphere for our Pastor to come and deliver the word of God. This is why it is important to:

  1.  Worship before getting to the house of God. Get yourself pumped and excited for what God is about to do in the service.
  2. Center you Heart before worship  Whatever you went through before coming to church leave it outside and come in to the house of God with a spirit of expectancy.
  3. Arrive early. Get to church on time so you can pray and get yourself in the position to where God can come in and speak to you, move through you, break and transform you.

So before I step my foot on that stage I pray “Lord all of you none of me! Whatever emotions that I am feeling that are not of you take it out of me. I want you to get all the glory and honor and I want people to be able to sense your presence. I repent for coming into your house with the cares of this world, create in me a clean heart so I can worship you in spirit and in truth”. Now of course this prayer may change from time to time, but the Word Of God says we need to kill our flesh, so I make sure I am right in my spirit before worshiping God with a tainted heart.

Before we get DEEP! let me define what worship is. Worship is having reverent honor to God. For those of us who are not sure what reverence means, its deep respect for someone or something.  Coming to church and singing slow songs is not worship. The way we live, determines whether or not we are worshipers. The reason why I say that the way we live our lives determines if we are worshipers or not is because, God looks at our hearts posture. Praise and Worship originates in our hearts, If your worship is not pure than it means nothing to God.

John 4:24: God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

                                           True Worship Vs Familiar Worship

True Worship:

John 4:24 (KJV);  God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

When you TRULY worship God from your heart, there is no way that you can worship him with no emotion or feeling. Worship has true emotion behind it, you feel an emotion where sometimes you cannot contain yourself, you start crying , speaking in tongues, you let the Lord move as He please.

To get an idea of worship and the emotion think of it as falling in love with someone that you cannot visualize not being with for the rest of your life . When a man is getting ready to propose to love of his life they usually have this nice speech prepared.  The speech is usually the man telling his Lady how much they mean to them, the journey and the transformation of his life, how he couldn’t see a future without her  ( something along those lines).

The guy may get choked up and start getting emotional and cannot contain himself because they are overwhelmed with emotions that are explainable. Worship is just like that. You love God with all your heart, you have these love songs (worship) dedicated to Him expressing what He means to you, how much you love Him, how you’re not complete without Him, you don’t know where you would be today if you never met him.

Worship is also a form of intimacy with God.  When I worship God sometimes I think about the overall goodness and greatness of God, his grace and mercy on my life. I start to feel an emotion that is explainable sometimes I feel chills or I just start to smile, I can’t contain myself. You don’t have to be all over the place, falling out , screaming, laid out, for people to see or think that you’re in the spirit. Let it happen naturally.

I always keep in mind that in order for our worship to be effective we must have a pure relationship with our Lord.  I try to stay in the spirit of Worship at all times good days and bad days, in and out of church. That is a MAJOR KEY!

Psalms 51:1-11 I encourage you to read and get into your heart, you could even pray this prayer as well.

Familiar Worship:

Familiar worship is more so like a ritual, they sing the same songs every service, your singing because they asked you to join in and participate. It’s not genuine or pure, your only singing because you “feel” you have to or because you were asked. Personally I see a shift when the songs are upbeat and you can move (that’s called praise) . If its a “popular song” or a song with a nice beat we tend to participate more and you don’t have to ask them to clap, open their mouths and sing. God wants you to WANT to worship him because you LOVE.

God is a gentleman he will NOT force himself on no man.

We as the body of Christ should not want the spirit of familiarity on us. That causes problems in the future.

What is your heart’s posture?

“It is not the body’s posture, but the heart’s attitude that counts”

An Obedient Heart– Obedience in itself is an act of worship. True Christian obedience flows from a heart of gratitude for the grace we have received from the Lord.

( Romans 12:1 )

An Expectant Heart–  A person will never receive beyond their expectancy! Expectancy is the key to the doorway of receiving God’s blessing. Expectancy opens your heart to hear and receive from the Lord Jesus Christ.  ( Hebrews 11:1)

I want to ask you a  few questions? Think about it, you don’t have to write it down you can just answer out loud or in your head:

  • Do I genuinely care about the people in the room, as God cares for them?
  • Am I transparent before the Lord about  my own brokenness and shortcomings?
  • Am I humble? Am I gracious? Am I genuine?
  • Am I holding on to bitterness or hurt feelings?
  • Have I taken in more of the world and less of the Word of God?
  • Release the sin through confession.
  • Receive God’s forgiveness and restoration of the joy of salvation.

Different Types of Postures for Worship.

  • Prostrate – 1 Corinthians 14:24-25
  • Dance 2 Samuel 6:14-15
  •  Bowing- Psalm 5:7
  • Walking and jumping.-Acts 3:8
  •  Lifting hands.-Psalm 28:2

Conclusion :

Worship isn’t about people. Worship isn’t even about the music. Worship is about giving God the honor and glory he deserves. The deepest level of worship is praising God in spite of the pain, thanking God during the trials, trusting Him when we’re tempted to lose Hope and LOVING HIM when He seems so distant and far away. At my lowest, God is my hope. At my darkest God is my light. At my weakest, God is my strength . At my saddest, God is my comforter.
