More Of God...Less Of Me <3
"In those periods of despair, I had to choose to believe God and trust in his promises, rather than trusting my feelings." As a young adult in the ministry, when I see other men and women on fire for the things of God, it makes me want to seek and go after Him harder. Maybe I'm the only one, but I get joy when I see young people worshiping freely. Not having a care in the world, and having a moment between them and God. I tend to get emotional at times when I see the hunger and thirst that the children of God have for Him. The day and time that we live in, you don't really see young people living in the truth that they know is right (which is the word of God). This generation is stuck in the ways of the world and are being consumed with what the world says is right or wrong. We need to come out of that mind set and remember what God has purposed for us.
Romans 12:2 (KJV) ;And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
As children of God, He has called us ALL to do work for his Kingdom. Whether that be serving in the church, doing praise and worship, ushering, teaching, cleaning, doing Sunday school, praise dance, etc.
Ephesians 4:11-14 (KJV)And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers,12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.
When we are called to do work for His kingdom, we must make sure that whatever we are called to do, we do in excellence. There is no exception to doing things halfway and not putting your all in it. God does not get the glory when we serve with the wrong spirit. When we are called to do work for the kingdom, we must make sure that our heart and minds are pure and clean. When we start to walk into what God has called us to do, pertaining to his Kingdom, there are somethings that we must do in order for Him to get the glory and to be used mightily through him:Submission: To yield, resign or surrender to the power.Psalm 2:9-11 (KJV); You shall break them with a rod of iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware.'" Now therefore, O kings, show discernment; Take warning, O judges of the earth. Worship the LORD with reverence And rejoice with trembling.1 Peter 5:6 (KJV); Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time,When you submit to God, He is able to use you because He sees your heart and knows that he is able to trust you in certain areas. By submitting to God you are saying, "Here I am" Do what you please and use me for your Glory". Some people have excuses as to why they have a hard time submitting to God, when there shouldn't be any excuse (Excuses are for people who don't want it bad enough). Submission comes with obedience. When your obedient to God (as we should already be because we are children of God) we will be able to grow spiritually and fruit will grow from it. If you are unable to submit to God then you have a REALLY BIG issue. You can't expect for God to use you and move in your life if you have a hard time listening and doing as the Lord tells you.God doesn't bless mess.
Doubt/Fear:Doubt: to be in uncertainty
Fear: A painful emotion or passion excited by an expectation of evil, or the apprehension of impending danger.
Romans 14:23 (KJV); But whoever has doubts is condemned if he eats, because the eating is not from faith. For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.
James 1:6(KJV); But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.Mark 11:23(KJV); Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. When you become obedient and serve God with your whole heart, the enemy knows that he has lost you. You're one more person that he has to contend with, and he will bring all types of stumbling blocks along allowing fear and doubt to creep in . When I first had the idea about starting this blog, I had reservations about the blog and what people were going to say, think, or feel. Whenever you want to serve God, the enemy will do all he can do to hinder you from doing so. Since we are emotional creatures and always caught up in how we feel, that is where the enemy will attack first. All kinds of thoughts will come into your mind, and he will even send family or loved ones your way to add on to your doubt and fear.Yearn: To have an intense feeling of longing for something
1 Chronicles 16:11(KJV); Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually.
2 Chronicles 12:14(KJV); And he did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek the Lord.
When you have a yearning for God, you can't go a day without being in his presence. I could be at work, and the whole time I'm thinking about how I'm going to spend time with God when I get home. Even on my daily commute to work I will have my praise and worship, read my Joyce Meyers Book, and start my day off with God. When I am on my way home, I have praise and worship music playing on my walk to the train station. I am telling you that nothing beats being in the presence of God. There is so much peace, joy, revelation, and at times a feeling that you're unable to describe.
Seek: Attempt to find.
Matthew 6:33 (KJV);But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Deuteronomy 4:29 (KJV); But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
Seeking after God causes revelation that pertains to your life. When you seek God, He will reveal things to you about yourself, a situation that you may be dealing with. God wants us to seek after Him daily. When we seek God for ourselves wisdom, knowledge and understanding take place. We are to seek God in everything that relates to our life and walk with Christ. When we are dealing with situations that we are uncertain about, God will direct us on how to deal with that person or situation, letting peace subside in the midst of it all. Ways that you can seek God:
- Prayer
- Reading the Bible
- Get in a quiet place and make sure that the atmosphere is one that is welcoming to Christ so he is able to come in and have his way. ( i.e. prayer room, church, a park, the beach, your car, take a walk etc.) Just be still and clear your mind.
Seeking God is an awesome thing to make a habit of as Children of God. It is mind blowing the blessings, the wisdom, the knowledge that you could receive by seeking God. We need to get to a place where we deny ourselves ,the worldly pleasures we enjoy, and fill ourselves with more of God and His word. We are living in the last days. We don't know when Jesus is coming back for the church/body of Christ, so right now is the best time to get as much of the word of God in you as possible and live by it.
Expect:
the state of thinking or hoping that something, especially something pleasant, will happen or be the case.
Acts 3:5 - And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.
When you're believing God to do a mighty work in you and use you in different avenues, we must believe that it is so and expect for it to happen(and if it is his will it will happen). When you have the spirit of expectancy your antennas are always up because you are waiting for God to move on your behave. At times it may seem like nothing is happening for you and it can become frustrating and you want to give up, continue to push through and be faithful God will reward you for staying true and holding on.
2 Chronicles 15:7 (KJV) ; 7 But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.”
Galatians 6:9 (KJV); 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
I can speak from a personal stand point that when I 'm expecting God to move it helps me to stay on course and make sure that my life is a life that God approves of and is living up to the Word of God. I have a reverential fear for God and I do not want to mess up the will that God has for me. ( Read 2 Corinthians 4:1-11)
SO REMEMBER:
- Less of You and More of God
-Deny Yourself
-Submit to God
- Do Not walk in Fear or Doubt
-Yearn after God
-Seek God's face daily
- Be Expecting
- Be Consistent
